Weigh In. What's your experience with Amazon?

I have been noticing quality control issue with amazon like never before. Packages arrived opened, in other words, a used product, not new. And others are damaged. Itβs from the warehouse, not during shipping. A recent order was a cloth and when I opened the box, it was soaked in a chemical that smelled like a cleaning agent. Another time, I revived a used jacket, when I ordered a book. And the list goes on.
So, I now find the manufacturer and order direct. For me Amazon is getting worse and pushing shit products from China. This is my first hand experience, whatβs yours?
Yup. I just got the email from Amazon Prime. Prime is now including commercials. Unless you want to spend more money!!! I canβt hardly do YouTube anymore because of all the ads. But Iβm getting off topic.
I found Amazon because I was buying books, many were used. The older books were better made than the new cheap knockoffs. I was dismayed when Amazon closed its book exchange, and I've struggled to find an alternative for buying quality used books.
I use Amazon for most of my needs, other than groceries. I have noticed that "free 2-day shipping" now means "as soon as we can get it to you, but don' expect your package in 2 days." Some things arrive quickly, others don't. Amazon Prime isn't what is used to be. I haven't yet noticed problems with packaging or damaged items. FWIW, I live in Southern CA; other parts of the country may experience different problems from mine.
I spend a lot of time watching Prime movies and series; health issues keep me grounded most of the time. When Prime first started, Amazon had lots of great movies that you could watch for free (based on your Prime membership). Over time, the quality of the "free" movies has sunk pretty low, based on the ratings. All or most of the really good movies and series now are available only to "rent or buy." I suppose that kind of change is inevitable, since, like all corporations, it's all about the money. It is disappointing, and feels like a bait-and-switch scheme to me. I had to get Netflix account to find movies and series that I didn't have to pay a premium fee for, AFTER having paid my Prime membership fee.
Hope this helps. Thanks for letting me vent.
