A recent report exposed Meta, a.k.a. Facebook, for the promotion of child sex trafficking. The Wall Street Journal and other researchers at Stanford University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst uncovered these vile facts. The algorithm pushes underage pornographic material. Some content, with children as young as 12, included bestiality and self-harm. And for the right price, buyers have the ability for in-person engagements.
Despite the fact the content breaks their guidelines and federal law, it's allowed. Meta’s blatant disregard for child exploitation is beyond evil. Their algorithms determined the graphic nature of the media. Yet, it offered viewers two choices. Engage with illegal content, or view resources about the harm this type of media has on children.
“These results may contain images of child sexual abuse,” and noted that production and consumption of such material causes “extreme harm” to children. The screen offered two options for users: “Get resources” and “See results anyway.”
Yet, in the same breath, Meta tickles the public ears. They'll do everything in their power to help protect the children.
“Child exploitation is a horrific crime,” the company said, adding, “We’re continuously investigating ways to actively defend against this behavior.”
— Meta
Even though their action proves otherwise, people believe Meta’s calculated deceit. They still use the platform as long as likes and giggles tickle their fancy. Too many have no regard for the families or children harmed by the content shared. If they did, Zuckerburg’s empire would collapse into the pits of hell. But that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. When advertisers can sell their products and people can feed their egos, it’s business as usual.
But mark my words, Facebook, Instagram, and Meta are no friends of the family unit.
Let's Look At The Facts
Since 2015 Mark’s Facebook has supported pedophiles in seeking illegal sex from minors. When questions arose about illicit content, Facebook refused removal. They claimed no violations were found within their terms of service. Even comments alluding to the harm of underage youth earned a free pass.
“You know you [sic] skilled when you can fit 10 kids in 1 self storage [room].”
If it weren't for the advertisers in 2015, the content would've remained. What has happened in 2023? They’ve all gone woke.
In 2018, more Facebook deceit. They claimed the pornographic material was a mistake, a misunderstanding. But truth be told, the executives embraced it. Not only did they allow the material, they surveyed their members. They sought approval without an option to say no.
Question
“In thinking about an ideal world where you could set Facebook’s policies, how would you handle the following: a private message in which an adult man asks a 14-year-old girl for sexual pictures,”…
Two choices.
“content should be allowed on Facebook, and I would not mind seeing it.”
“the content should be allowed on Facebook, but I don’t want to see it.”
And Mr. Rosen wants people to believe Facebook doesn’t want this type of content on the platform? If anyone believe him, I have oceanfront property in Arizona they can buy at a discount.
“We run surveys to understand how the community thinks about how we set policies,” Facebook vice president Guy Rosen said in response to Haynes’ tweet. “But this kind of activity is and will always be completely unacceptable on FB.”
Remember, a leopard can’t change their spots, and neither can these disgraceful pigs.
Agencies Speak Out
In 2021, a leading child-protection entity in the U.K. claimed another fact. Facebook is the perfect place for pedophiles, abusers, and groomers to hang out. It gives these criminals the perfect place to hide in plain sight.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) asserts over 1/2 of all online child sex crimes occur on Facebook. And the police in the UK reported over 9.4k cases of illegal communication with children via messaging and illegal images.
Because abusers know they will be able to operate with impunity, therefore it means that not only will current levels of abuse go largely undetected, but it’s highly likely that we’ll see more child abuse.
Conclusion
To date, Zuckerberg's done little to end the exploitation of children on his networks.
David Thiel, chief technologist at the Stanford Internet Observatory, said, “Instagram’s problem comes down to content-discovery features, the ways topics are recommended and how much the platform relies on search and links between accounts.” Thiel, who previously worked at Meta on security and safety issues, added, “You have to put guardrails in place for something that growth-intensive to still be nominally safe, and Instagram hasn’t.”
Yet, these Big Tech giants claim it's hard to remove the content. But, for them, it's not difficult to restrict your constitutional right to free speech.
Interesting how that works.
